The late Kobe Bryant once said that the NBA All-star event was the most prestigious and meaningful pick-up game. That of course refers to the composition of the best basketball players in the world, gathering and competing against each other. They are there because they were voted for by the fans, the media and of course the players. This concept was eventually also used by the Indonesian basketball league or IBL to hold season all-star matches.
After going through a voting process for about 2 weeks, the best players in the IBL were finally selected to enter Team Legacy and Team Future and Satria Muda Pertamina sent Abraham Damar, Jarred Shaw, Julian Chalias and Ali Bagir to the match which was held at the Britama Arena, Jakarta. And the last name was not only able to become one of the top scorers but was also able to shine brightly that night. Appearing for 23 minutes, Ali Bagir was able to score 24 points, the highest of all the local players who played that night.
"Honestly, at first I didn't have any motivation to play in the All-Star match this season, I just wanted to get on the field for fun. "But as soon as I entered the Britama Arena, it turned out that the aura was extraordinary, the enthusiasm from the audience really reached me, so I wanted to give the best to all of them, especially those who have chosen me to be here for three years in a row," he said.
Bagir also did not deny that his great performance that night was also the result of the cooperation of all his teammates at Future, and that resulted in victory for the second time against the Legacy team.
"The most memorable moment was when I dunked for the first time and was able to shoot three points and then it was good to go in again, it felt like I hadn't played basketball for a long time but suddenly I played, looked good, I was happy that I won. "The feeling that had been gone for a long time came back at night hehe," continued this University of Indonesia student.
When asked whether he hoped his great performance would continue in the next matches with Satria Muda Pertamina, Bagir answered of course but he also needed hard work to be consistent.
"Obviously I will continue to try to be at the level of play like in the All-star game yesterday, and I actually thank everyone because thanks to appearing there now my confidence has increased and I think it's good to be back fighting through this season with SM," he closed.
Satria Muda Pertamina itself will compete again in the IBL this season by visiting the Tangerang Hawks on May 5 2024.
