Pertamina Satria Muda player, Sandy Ibrahim said that he always welcomes the Eid with enthusiasm. Because on that day he can gather with his entire extended family, as an athlete, Sandy certainly has a very busy schedule, from training to competing. So when there is an opportunity for an Eid holiday, he always makes time to go home to Bandung and then to Ciamis where his relatives are.
"The Eid tradition in my family is actually very simple. Usually in the morning we gather together to perform the Eid prayer, after that we bow and apologize between all the extended family. But the most important thing is that my brother, my mother, and I go to the grave of the late father to clean his grave and pray together. Because it's been almost 3 years since we celebrated Eid together," said Sandy when contacted by telephone.
When asked about whether there are special Eid dishes during family meals on Eid, Sandy answered of course because that is also part of the moments he is waiting for.
“Apart from ketupat and chicken opor, the special Lebaran food that I look forward to the most at home is beef rib curry. Well, this dish is a dish that I really can’t avoid, since I was little I always fought over it when I ate this haha. This beef rib curry made by my mom and grandma is really special, from the sauce to the meat. I even dare to say that I have never found rib curry with the same taste as this haha,” he said.
“And usually I also always pack it to take to Jakarta. Basically, if I cook this every day, I probably won’t get bored, but it has to be my mom and grandma who make it, hehe,” added the man who has won 3 Indonesian basketball league titles with SM Pertamina.
But what’s unique is that Sandy said that he doesn’t really have a favorite cake during Lebaran because he doesn’t like sweet foods. “Well, for cakes, honestly I don’t have a favorite, but I do eat it occasionally as a snack to chat with my family. Because what’s important is togetherness,” he concluded.
