The tradition of going home has long been a characteristic of Eid. Workers in other regions usually flock back to their hometowns to celebrate Eid with their families. And of course that also applies to the Satria Muda Pertamina players, those who get a holiday allowance certainly take advantage of it to return to their hometowns.
One of those who also went home was Bryan Elang, the center of SM Pertamina has been in Klaten since yesterday to celebrate Eid with his extended family.
"Going home, because this has indeed become a tradition in my family. Gathering together, socializing and forgiving each other, it's really lively. And what's certain is that this moment makes me always miss Eid in Klaten. Yes, even though this is only until the Eid holiday because after that my village is quiet again," he said.
The man who is familiarly called Max also said that besides visiting relatives, eating typical Eid food is something he looks forward to. Snacks that of course he can't enjoy every day.
"Wow, my favorite food during Eid is my mother's rica-rica mentok. Wow, the taste is really unbeatable. I am willing to go home, one of the things, to eat it as soon as possible. My mother's rica-rica mentok is very special, spicy but addictive. Every time I'm asked what the seasoning is, she always answers it's a secret haha. Maybe so that I always remember to go home haha," he said with a laugh.
"And one more thing, drink ice drops from real sugar cane, if it's this combination, one plate of food is definitely not enough for me haha," he added.
When asked what his hopes are for this year's Eid, Max answered that he hopes he will always be blessed with health in his work as an athlete.
"Because honestly when I was fasting yesterday and when Coach Guillermo arrived, it was really like a combo, because my physical condition was pushed twice as hard haha. But it's okay because I know it's for our own good in the future. Besides, of course I hope we can win the championship this season, amen," he concluded.
