One of the important elements of Satria Muda Pertamina this year, Abraham Damar Grahita, succeeded in winning the title of Local Most Valuable Player (MVP) IBL season 2024. The man who is familiarly called Bram succeeded in winning over nominees such as Yudha Saputra, Kaleb Ramot, F.Amir and Abraham Wenas.
This player from Bangka managed to collect the most votes with a total of 135 points from the panelists consisting of IBL coaches and media. This achievement is a sweet note for Bram's comeback to the IBL after gaining experience in the Japanese league last year.
"Honestly, I didn't expect to win this prestigious trophy again, because as everyone knows, how hard I struggled last season in basketball. I even thought that maybe my career was finished here, but I always believed that God would not leave me. "And I think this is another answer from God that basketball will always have meaning in my life," said Bram.
Bram himself said that this year's MVP title also felt even more special because of the improvement in the quality of the players that occurred in the IBL. As we know, this season the IBL will no longer hold a foreign player selection draft so that each team is free to look for players that suit their needs. And this has resulted in the entry of players at a higher level, some of whom even have experience as NBA and Euro League players.
"Yes, that's actually what makes me not believe it, coming back here and the league is getting tighter and thank God we can still prove ourselves. But actually I am someone who always believes that hard work will never betray the results. "So yes, this is the fruit of practice, hard work and God's intervention," he continued.
He was asked whether this title had more meaning than the two MVP titles in 2020 and 2022. Bram answered that everyone had their own meaning, but indeed this year's title had a million more meanings for him.
“There are lots of meanings and stories. Firstly, this title could be my savior because I really wanted to quit basketball. The second can certainly be even more motivation to perform better. Then it can also be fuel to continue trying to bring SM to become champions this year. Lastly, maybe it could be an antidote for yourself in looking at this industry because I have really felt very disappointed in organizations in the basketball industry. "So this title has lifted my mentality again from being at its lowest point to rising again," concluded the player who also presented a Sea Games gold medal for the 2022 Indonesian National Basketball Team.
With this title, Bram also broke the fast for the MVP title for Satria Muda Pertamina players after Arki Wisnu won it in 2017. And of course, hopefully this title can also be alongside SM Pertamina's thirteenth trophy this season.
Congratulations Abraham Damar Grahita. (FR)
