Satria Muda Pertamina has made another breakthrough by becoming the first team to reveal the salary cap or salary limit for their players this season. The team, which is synonymous with the color blue, even transparently explained the numbers at a press conference held at Noice Jakarta yesterday. This was conveyed directly by the President of Satria Muda Pertamina Baim Wong.

"This is true, at the start of the season our salary cap value was at 9.3 billion and the limit itself was at 10 billion. "Well now our figure has risen to 11.3 billion but there is clearly a reason and the main one is of course because we replaced our previous foreign players with the current ones," said Baim.

Satria Muda team manager Theodore added that the current increase in SM's salary limit was purely due to the decision of the management and coaching staff which reflected the poor results achieved by SM in the beginning to the middle of this season.

“Obviously we are moving up the salary cap because the current dynamics of the league are getting tighter and more interesting. And we agreed to upgrade the numbers of our foreign pillars, such as now there is Artem, a player who has played in the European leagues and is also a former Barcelona player, obviously the price is different from our previous foreign players. "Yes, four times as much," said Theo

"Yes, because if we want to compete with the top teams now, we also have to have players with the quality and caliber of Artem, Reynaldo and Elgin," he added.

And it has been proven that since the arrival of this new trio, Youbel Sondakh's team has been unbeatable for the last eight matches.

Theo also revealed that the increase in salary limits has several consequences for IBL as the current organizer of the Indonesian basketball league. One of them is a fine.

“That's right and we are committed to complying with that by paying for it. The amount is one to one so if we now get 11.3 billion then we have to pay around 1.3 billion. So, the IBL regulations themselves are actually the maximum expenditure is 10 billion and the limit for excess is up to 2 billion to 12 billion. "If it is more, apart from paying the fine, the club will also experience a reduction in value for next season," said Theo.

Asked about the flow of the fine, Theo said that later the 1.3 billion would be distributed to all clubs competing in the IBL this season. (FR)
