Satria Muda (SM) Pertamina celebrated its 31st birthday which fell on October 28 yesterday in a different way. Previously, the celebration was identical with lively sports activities, this time SM Pertamina chose to share kindness and happiness with children with cancer at the Harapan Kita Children's & Mother's Hospital (RSAB) and Manggarai Children's School.
This was expressed directly by the Managing Director of SM Pertamina, Christian Ronaldo Sitepu. He said that the purpose of this noble activity is so that SM Pertamina can become a basketball team that is useful for the entire community and not only limited to basketball circles.
"This activity (sharing love) also introduces basketball to them (children with cancer). Not only that, SM Pertamina also provides assistance along with support and also material. Yes, the point is that at the age of 31 this year, SM Pertamina wants to share more in all aspects. And hopefully this activity can have a positive impact on the younger siblings. And of course we also get a lot of lessons from them (children with cancer)," he said.
A similar thing was expressed by one of SM Pertamina's mainstay players, Sandy Ibrahim Aziz. For the man with the number 8 jersey, birthday celebrations do not have to be held in a big and lively manner, but it is good to be accompanied by activities that have positive values ​​like this.
"Yes, we never know what fate and life line of humans will be like in the future, that's why I was excited and very happy when I found out that SM's birthday this year was themed sharing kindness and blessings to the younger siblings at RSAB Harapan Kita and Sekolah Anak Manggarai. Hopefully the blessings will also return to SM to go through the next season with victory, besides that of course I hope this activity becomes a routine activity for SM every year," said Sandy.
Not only Sandy, Point Guard from Bangka, Antoni Erga welcomed the enthusiasm of SM Pertaminta's sharing activity on the birthday of the team coached by Youbel Sondakh. The positive impact is not only felt by Erga, but also for the management, SM organization but also for all players.
"By seeing and interacting directly, they also really motivate us (the SM Pertamina team) to hold similar activities. You don't always have to wait for a team agenda like this to share love and hope but you can also start from yourself. In addition, I hope this positive activity can be an example for other teams outside of Satria Muda Pertimina so that later basketball can play a role not only in the arena but also on the outside," hoped the man with the number 3 jersey.
