For Muslim athletes, training while fasting is of course a challenge in itself, especially if training starts in the morning or afternoon. Which is of course still far from breaking the fast. This is also what several Satria Muda Pertamina athletes who are Muslim, one of them is Sandy Ibrahim Aziz.

SM Pertamina's mainstay shooting guard said that the fasting month is not an obstacle to continuing to carry out routine training as long as we pay attention to the intake that enters the body both at breaking the fast and at dawn.

"Of course there are some adjustments for me personally when training during the fasting month like this, but actually it can really be worked around. I always increase my intake of sweet things like dates and fruit ice. Then, if possible, break the fast and suhoor with fiber-rich foods rich in fruit or vegetables. "Also, it's important to drink effervescent vitamins to keep your body in top shape, and of course drink plenty of fluids at breakfast and dawn so you don't get dehydrated," he said.

SM Pertamina itself continues to train with high intensity during the month of Ramadhan. In fact, several times the training schedule is from morning to afternoon. This is normal considering that after Eid they are again faced with a busy competition schedule.

“The point is that everything will be easier if we carry out it with intention. Because several times I felt like I couldn't hold it in anymore and in my heart I said oh I had the intention, I have to do it and finally I did it. Likewise, maintaining your sleep pattern also doesn't allow you to get less rest because it will have a big impact on us as athletes both when training and competing. "So it's actually that simple, hehe," continued the player from West Java.

When asked about his plans for celebrating Eid al-Fitr this year, Sandy only answered that the tradition he missed most was of course gathering with his extended family in Ciamis, West Java. Because as an athlete with a busy schedule and frequently moving cities, gathering time with relatives is a rare luxury.

"Obviously, the moment of staying in touch with all my relatives and visiting my father's grave is the time I look forward to the most, especially since last year I didn't celebrate Eid at home because I had to attend the national team training camp in Australia, so I miss that atmosphere even more. "What's more, combined with eating grandma's Eid dishes such as beef curry and ampela liver sauce, I don't think I want to go back to Jakarta anymore haha," concluded Sandy while laughing.

From Sandy we can learn that the struggle to be an athlete is not only on the field but also outside the field, the side that sometimes has tougher challenges. But if you can pass it, of course there is a reward, especially if it's not a trophy. Like Sandy Ibrahim Aziz who has won three titles with Satria Muda Pertamina.
