Satria Muda Pertamina is back to holding routine training to face the 2025 season next January. However, this time the atmosphere is more lively because the players and coaches who were members of the Indonesian National Team some time ago have returned. Names such as Abraham Damar, Avan Seputra, Ali Bagir, Julian Chalias, Widyanta Teja and Youbel Sondakh have been seen back in the squad of the team based in Kelapa Gading.
"Of course we are happy that our squad is complete again because of course their presence as soon as possible will help us in preparing for next season," said SM Pertamina assistant coach Cesar Perez.
Asked about the main focus of Satria Muda Pertamina's training this week, the man from Spain answered defense. Because with the league getting tighter in terms of quality, defensive strategies will play an important role.
"Defense is the key because we know that all teams currently have equal strength, especially their foreign players. And if we are able to apply all patterns in defense, then I am sure we will go through this season well. It was proven last season that the arrival of Reynaldo, Artem and Elgin was able to bring us to the final after going through a difficult path at the beginning of the season," he continued
"In addition, I also hope that our local players can learn a lot about how to guard opponents from Reynaldo, Artem, and Elgin and hopefully understanding how to defend well will become SM's philosophy for the future," Cesar continued.
Satria Muda itself will start their journey in the new season by visiting Bandung to serve Prawira Bandung. Although the preparation time is not long, Cesar is optimistic that SM Pertamina will achieve positive results.
"A month is certainly not a long time for us to train everything, but I have to make the most of it. Especially to build communication between players, and work together as one unit. The point is if we can do good defense in the arena then we will go further next season," he concluded.
