Satria Muda Pertamina, a team with a collection of 12 Indonesian basketball league titles, is getting ready to face the playoffs this season. One of the breakthroughs they made was to replace their previous foreign players with national team caliber players such as Reynaldo Garcia, Artem Pustovyi and Elgin Cook. This change immediately had significant results with SM Pertamina being unbeaten in the last eight matches.
“Yes, actually the replacement of foreign players was our response to yesterday's less than good results. So yes, let's fix it. And thank God, the impact was immediately visible and hopefully we can maintain this positive trend until the end," said Satria Muda Pertamina head coach Youbel Sondakh.
When asked about the readiness of the SM team ahead of the playoffs, this man from Manado said that currently they are all ready to face anything in the crucial round which will be held starting July 11.
"What is certain is that the team atmosphere now is very positive, all the players understand that they have to be at their best levels. Moreover, tomorrow's two games will really determine SM's face in the playoffs. And what I like is that they are aware of this, so without constant reminders they already understand what needs to be added and improved. "Because our target as Young Knights never changes every year, always winning," he stressed.
SM Pertamina itself will finally return to playing at their home ground, Britama Arena, after becoming a travel team using the Senayan Basketball Hall and Pertamina Arena Simprug some time ago. And regarding moving from one place to another, Christian Ronaldo Sitepu as managing director of SM Pertamina said that this was not too much of a problem because the Britama Arena was basically an adequate basketball gym.
"Because the Britama Arena is our own home, so roughly speaking, we already know this building by heart, both in terms of match equipment and branding for sponsors. Right now, everything is still going according to the timeline, and I hope everything will run smoothly until the next match. "Apart from that, there will be lots of activities inside and outside the match because we have additional sponsors such as Ponds and Kolega Barbershop, so we hope that the spectators who attend every Satria Muda match will have a memorable experience," he concluded.
