Satria Muda Pertamina (SMP) finally inaugurated their last foreign legion to face the rest of this season by landing Shannon Evans. The Guinean national team player was brought in to replace LeBryan Nash who parted ways with Satria Muda today.
Shannon himself has a brilliant track record in the major European leagues. It is noted that the player who plays as a point guard has strengthened strong teams such as Real Betis, Valencia, Joventut Baladona to MoraBanc Andorra.
"Once again I say that we do need players with above average skills to face important matches in the playoffs later. And Shannon is one of those on our radar and he also wants to try the experience of playing here. In addition, I also spoke with the coaches who had trained him and they said that Shannon is a player who has a good attitude on the field both when training and competing," said Satria Muda Pertamina head coach Youbel Sondakh.
Regarding adaptation, Youbel himself feels quite confident that Shannon will not encounter many difficulties. Because according to him, every professional player is certainly aware that they must integrate with their new team as quickly as possible.
"In addition, we have Artem and Amine here, well, the three of them have faced each other this season in the Spanish league, so I think this factor will greatly help Shannon's adaptation. At least the three of them already know each other's playing style, yes, I hope he can give his best for us and can be the difference in every game later," Youbel hoped.
Shannon himself, when met on the sidelines of today's training, said that he was very excited to join the Satria Muda team. A big team with a myriad of achievements in the Indonesian basketball league.
"Yes, I spoke to several people who have played here and they said that the league here is getting better in terms of quality. They also said that Satria Muda is an extraordinary team with many championship titles and of course I came here to continue that great tradition," he said. The Arizona State University graduate will wear the number 2 jersey at Satria Muda Pertamina and will make his debut this week when they host Bali United and Prawira Bandung.
