Satria Muda Pertamina again released their foreign players a few weeks before the playoffs. After Trey Davis and Jarred Shaw, this time the team that is identical with the color blue decided to replace Myke Henry. This decision was taken purely because SM Pertamina felt the need to prepare themselves better ahead of the last three matches that will bring them together with Dewa United, Prawira and Pelita Jaya. And of course as preparation for the playoffs next July.
"Yes, we need to find players who can provide more energy on the field. But the main thing is of course because of the statistics. Because the playoffs will be tough and crucial. However, this does not mean that Myke is not suitable for SM, because as we know he has experience in the NBA and many other leagues. It's just that we do need to find another figure for Satria Muda's current needs," said SM Pertamina head coach Youbel Sondakh.
Youbel himself said that the replacement of the former Memphis Grizzlies player was purely because of the team's needs as a unit on the field and there was no other reason than that.
"Of course that's the only reason, because as we know he is a good player and a cheerful person so he can create a conducive team atmosphere. And what I like about him, Myke is someone who adapts quickly to the weather, food and anything while in Indonesia. I hope we can work together again and I wish him the best in the future," Youbel concluded.
A farewell greeting was also said by one of the young Satria Muda Pertamina players, Dame Diagne, the player who just scored 1000 points said that Myke is a figure who is very easy to get along with and does not hesitate to share knowledge with the players.
"Myke is not only funny, he is also an experienced figure who never stops giving input in basketball. Especially for young players like me, Karl, Julian, Armando and Adrien. I am lucky to be able to learn from a senior ex-NBA player like him, for that I want to say thank you very much to him," said Dame after training.
