A big step was taken by Satria Muda Pertamina to continue the rest of their journey this season. After working together for about six months, SMP finally decided not to continue working with one of their foreign players Jarred Shaw.
“A difficult decision of course because Jarred has been one of our spearheads all this time, he is also a player with a very good personality and is also intelligent. This decision was taken purely because of our needs in the playing scheme to go to the playoffs. So we need something new and fresh to be more ready to face that round,” said SM head coach Youbel Sondakh.
The man from Manado also emphasized that there was no other factor in this change other than to fulfill the rules and system that SM Pertamina will use for the rest of this season. Youbel even did not rule out the possibility of working with Jarred again in the future.
“Oh of course that possibility exists, but for now I want to say thank you for all his contributions so far. Yes, we know of course that is an extraordinary contribution. And I also wish him the best in the future,” he concluded.
Gratitude also came from the Captain of Satria Muda Pertamina this season, Arki Dikania Wisnu, according to him Jarred will be one of the figures they miss because of his big role and vocals both on the field and in the locker room.
"We will always remember him as one of our important players in Satria Muda. A player with an extraordinary motivation to win. In addition, he also has an important role in helping the development of our local players, especially the big man, to be better in the future. For all that, I say thank you very much to him and maybe now we can't be back together on the field as a team but we can still walk forever as the big Satria Muda Pertamina family," said Arki after training this afternoon.
Meanwhile, the manager of the SM Pertamina team Theodore emphasized that they have also moved to find a replacement for this man from Dallas. And it is certain that the search for SM Pertamina will revolve around the world's top leagues that are entering the off-season.
"Behind our decision that may seem surprising, there is a consideration to increase our strength in position 5, potential replacement players who previously played in the world's top leagues are now available and willing to come to Indonesia to help us close the season. So we took the opportunity," he explained.
