The basketball court revitalization program initiated by IBL and Bank Mandiri continues. After visiting Tangerang, Bogor, and several other locations, this time the revitalization, dubbed IBL Playgrounds, is coming to Bandung. Specifically, it's located at the Bentang Artha Buah Batu Complex in Bandung Regency.
Two Satria Muda Pertamina Bandung players were also present at the event. Kelvin Sanjaya and Antoni Erga were honored to inaugurate the field.
"It's a good movement. It may seem simple and small, but it will be the beginning of many good things, especially for the people around Buah Batu," said Kelvin Sanjaya when asked for his opinion on this field renovation initiative.
The player, who recently won the All Indonesia Cup with SM, also said he was proud to be involved in the inauguration. A field that will undoubtedly be the beginning of many stories.
"Besides pride, of course, I hope that Erga and I's presence can inspire the children in attendance, because one of the most important parts of being a national basketball athlete is how we give back to the community, as we do now. Furthermore, I personally was born on an outdoor court with a rough floor, no lights, and no roof in Rengat, Riau Province. But no matter what, that will always be my core memory as a basketball player. What grew there wasn't just talent, but also a sense of shared destiny and big dreams, and I hope those things will also be here in the future," he said.
Asked about his hopes for the newly renovated court, Kelvin replied that he hoped many new talents would emerge from it. Young talents who, hopefully, will continue to enrich Indonesian basketball.
"Furthermore, I hope this movement doesn't stop just on Java. It would be even better if it reached other regions across Indonesia, including the hometowns of other active IBL players. Like Hardianus in Sangatta, Erga in the interior of Bangka, Argus Sanyudy in Siak, and others. I'm confident the benefits of this movement will be multiplied, and of course, it aligns with our shared ambition to create a better next generation," he concluded.
